Yeah, I haven't written in a long time. This is due to a number of reasons, the largest being law school, of course. More specifically, the lack of free time that comes from trying to stay caught up in class, writing papers, looking for a job and making an attempt to start studying for finals. Why would I do such a thing? Because that is what law students do best. Next Wednesday is my last class, and then come finals. And for those of you not in law school, our final is our only grade in the class. So they count and I need to do well. That being said, why has my school suddenly decided to have 10 manditory meetings about stuff we could have done months ago? And not put it alllllllllll at once, along with finals. UGH!
So the big question is, why do we do this to ourselves? I have too many friends who are doing things that they don't like, and paying money to do them. Or being tortured by jobs that suck. Or really want to do this stuff (god only knows why at times) but are going to be in debt forever. Why are we as a people doing this to ourselves, and our future generations. We work more hours/days then all the other modern civilizations. The Japanese, who are notorious hard workers, work less hours then us. Are we so retarded that we need to work more then the rest of hte world? Cuz, honestly, it is not like we are just SO much more productive as a society that we need to work a billion hours a week to produce such great things. I mean, realistically, wouldn't we all be happier as a country if we had a few more breaks, or worked a few less hours? I know we all have this burning need to make money (and I know it now more then ever, cuz I don't have a paying job for the summer) but why can't we work a few less hours, sleep a little more and be nicer, happier, healthier and most of all, more productive all around. Like doctors. Doesn't it bother ANYONE that NY had to make a law that prevented doctors from working more then 24 hours straight? Have you ever stayed awake for 24 hours? Have you tried to really concentrate during that 24th hour? It's a little tough, speaking from experience. Now do that over and over. That 24th hours gets uglier and uglier. And these are the people who we place the fate of our life?!?!?! That seems to lack in logic....
On a final, sad note, Cornell lost today to UNH 3-2, and missed the chance to be in the finals. Cornell, congrats on making the Frozen Four for the first time since 1980. You guys had a great run, and it has been a pleasure watching the seniors the past four years. However, next year, if you lose to UNH for the THIRD year in a row, I am driving back to Ithaca to smack you all upside the head!
